Pakistan national cricket team

DESCRIPTION :

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is the governing body for cricket in Pakistan. It works to promote and develop the game of cricket in Pakistan by organizing international matches, domestic competitions and other events. The Pakistan national cricket team or Pak cricket team, often referred to as the Shaheens (lit.   'Falcons'), Green Shirts ,Men in Green and Horned Tigers, is managed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The team is a full member of the International Cricket Council and participates in Test, One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International cricket matches.
Pakistan have played 446 Test matches, winning 146, losing 136 and drawing 164. Pakistan gained Test status on 28 July 1952 and made their Test debut against India at the Feroz Shah Kotla Ground in Delhi in October 1952, with India winning by an innings and 70 runs.

The team has played 945 ODIs, winning 498, losing 418, drawing 9 and 20 ending without a result. Pakistan was the 1992 world champion and in 1999 was the runner-up of the tournament. Pakistan, along with other South Asian countries, hosted the World Cup in 1987 and 1996, with the 1996 final being held at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

The team has also played 215 Twenty20 Internationals, winning 131, losing 76 and drawing 3. Pakistan won the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in 2009 and finished as runners-up in 2007 and 2022.

Pakistan has a notable record of winning each of the major ICC international cricket tournaments: the ICC Cricket World Cup (1992), the ICC T20 World Cup (2009) and the ICC Champions Trophy (2017); while also becoming the fourth team to lift the ICC Test Championship baton in 2016.

The rise in terrorism due to the war on terror has led to the stagnation of foreign teams touring Pakistan. After an attack on the Sri Lankan national cricket team in 2009, no Test cricket was played in the country until 2019. Between 2009 and 2016, their home matches were mostly held in the United Arab Emirates. However, due to the decline in terrorism in Pakistan over the past few years, as well as increased security, many teams have visited Pakistan since 2015. These teams include Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Bangladesh, South Africa, Australia, England and the ICC World XI squad. In addition, the Pakistan Super League hosted matches in Pakistan.

India national cricket team

DESCRIPTION :

The Indian men's national cricket team, also known as Team India or the Men in Blue, represents India in men's international cricket. It is governed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and is a full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with Test, One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) status.

Cricket was introduced to the Indian subcontinent by British sailors in the 18th century and the first cricket club was founded in 1792. The Indian national cricket team played its first international match on 25 June 1932 in the Lord's Test, becoming the sixth team to be granted Test cricket status. India had to wait until 1952, almost twenty years, for their first Test victory. In the first fifty years of international cricket, success was limited, with only 35 wins in 196 Tests. However, the team gained momentum in the 1970s with the emergence of players like Sunil Gavaskar, Gundappa Viswanath, Kapil Dev and the Indian quartet.

In limited overs cricket, India made their ODI and T20I debuts in 1974 and 2006 respectively. The team has won five major ICC tournaments, won the Cricket World Cup twice (1983 and 2011), the ICC T20 World Cup once (2007) and the ICC Champions Trophy twice (2002 and 2013 ) and also finished as runners-up in the World Cup once (2003), the World T20 Cup once (2014) and the Champions Trophy twice (2000 and 2017). The team was also runner-up in the inaugural 2019-2021 ICC World Cup. They were the second team after the West Indies to win the World Cup and the first team to win the World Cup on home soil after winning the Cricket World Cup in 2011.

They have also won the Asian Cup seven times, in 1984, 1988, 1990–91, 1995, 2010, 2016 and 2018, finishing as runners-up three times (1997, 2004, 2008). The team also won the Cricket World Cup in 1985, defeating Pakistan in the final. Other achievements include winning the ICC Test Championship Mace five times and the ICC ODI Championship Shield once.

Test rivalries include the Border–Gavaskar Trophy (with Australia), the Pataudi Trophy (with England), the Anthony de Mello Trophy (with England) and the Freedom Trophy (with South Africa), while the famous rivalry with Pakistan exists across all formats.

As of October 2022, India are ranked second in Tests, third in ODIs and first in T20Is by the ICC. Rohit Sharma is the current captain of the team in all formats; the head coach is Rahul Dravid. Many times in Rahul's absence, VVS Laxman remains as the stand-in head coach, often with a second-string team.
